The temperature in Tokushima dropped to 11°C this morning. Looking up at the sky, it is perfectly clear, but the forecast says the weather will gradually deteriorate from this afternoon onward.Recently, it has become more common to see foreign travelers dressed in white pilgrimage attire, walking or cycling around Shikoku. This may be because the Shikoku 88-Temple Pilgrimage has become increasingly well known overseas, and the weaker yen may also be contributing to its popularity.
For reference, the Shikoku 88-Temple Pilgrimage, also known as the Shikoku Henro, is a pilgrimage route that visits 88 Buddhist temples throughout Shikoku associated with Kukai (Kobo Daishi).
Some pilgrims purchase a reused bicycle from the NPO Taiyo to Midori no Kai and use it to travel the Shikoku 88-Temple Pilgrimage by bicycle. After completing their journey, they return the bicycle to the NPO and donate it free of charge so that it can be reused again.
The first temple of the pilgrimage, Ryozenji Temple, is located in Tokushima Prefecture. In addition, the pilgrimage route connecting the 17th temple, Idoji Temple, and the 18th temple, Onzanji Temple, passes directly in front of the NPO Taiyo to Midori no Kai. We would be delighted if you would stop by and visit us during your journey.
